One way is to attach a little piece of masking tape on each side of the Ultracote and then just pull them apart.

use a sharp xacto blade to poke the corner of the backing..but dont go thru the covering

Stroke a backside corner with some pressure with a ballpoint pen and will separate.
Tried for my kamikazi pilots licence. Flunked the test.

I just hold a corner of it and kinda scrape the edge of the covering with a sharp xacto blade till I catch the edge of either the covering or backing.. volia.
Gravity has a nasty way of reminding you it's a law. Usually when your screaming inverted two feet off the runway....

trumpetman had it pat.....have always used two pieces of tape for each side of any covering,small or large, simply pull apart, problem solved....just had to have a number of small pieces of tape stuck on the edge of the table ready when covering...
