Help Wanted - Get Paid to Fly - Kingston/Ottawa/Brockville Area

We are a Toronto-based marketing and communications firm that will be doing extensive filming in the Brockville and 1000 Islands area this summer and early fall.

Part of the filming process will utilize an InfiniteJib EyeDroid 6-motor RC helicopter with a camera mount/gimbal.

This is the craft we have available:

We have a pair of Futaba radios with one set up to act as co-pilot/camera operator (to control the tilt of the camera gimbal and the yaw of the craft) as well as a wireless video headset for the camera op to view the shot.

We are looking for a pilot (or perhaps several pilots) to be available to fly and maintain the craft on location shoots. The emphasis will be on steady, gentle flight to capture the best footage possible. The river will be a focus of the shooting, so camera/craft safety over water will be a major concern. There is a possibility of takeoff/landing from a barge if it is determined to be feasible.

If you are interested, reply to this message and let us know your experience level, skill-set, availability and proposed day rate and half-day rate.

Hmmm. Your proposal sounds great but it may have a few problems to overcome. What your talking about is in the relm of UAV's. To do that in a legal manner, you will need a SPOC, for each flight, from Transport Canada. Has your rig been test flown? What flight controller package did you get, Hovefly(no experience here) or Wookong WKM(I have one). I'm sure there are quite a few qualified pilots here that could fullfill your needs but will any take the risk unless proper channels are gone through with the appropriate insurance. I don't mean to be a downer, it sounds like it would be fun but If I was going to fly for you, these would be some of the questions I would ask. Good luck with your endeavor.

I too have looked into this as a buisness aspect and have found there are more cons than pros to do this commercially in Ontario. I have flown with great success on my own private property and at the local MAAC fields with full HD video. With proper maintenance and pilot responsibility this is the safest way to video from the air hands down. I reallly hope the regs change for the better over the next little while. Good luck with the filming.

Legal and regulatory concerns aside, if you are intending to fly mainly over water, then it might be a good idea to purchase two or more of those aircraft and cameras so that you don`t jeoparidze your shooting schedule with aircraft loss. Also, you might want t clip several of these or pool noodles on it. You should also account for several test flights in your schedule to allow time for your flight crew to get used to the platform.

Good luck in your production!
