Me too Jason! I wouldn't think of asking for compensation but I know at least 2 fellows that charge right up front & have heard of others who expect something too. In fact one of these guys showed up at our field & announced to all that he was there for hire!
In the 15 or so years that I helped guys learn in our club I only recall once being offered anything for my time & it was a package of 5 minute epoxy! I was happy just to have someone more to fly with.
Hang time does not apply to ceiling fans, light fixtures, overhead door tracks or basketball nets!

That's what it's about for me too... I spent a couple hours the other night with someone. I'd brought out 3 or 4 planes to fly, but wound up just alternating - we'd buddy and teach him then I'd take one of mine up. He was just as happy to watch me fly as he was to get his hands on the sticks. And I was thrilled to see / hear his expression when he did his first loop and then on another flight to do his first take off!

It was even more rewarding to know his wife was out watching him fly for the first time ever. You could just see him beam from ear to ear!

More than enough payment for me!
