Locking a diff

I've heard many ways of locking a diff, like playdough, sillyputty, JB weld, epoxy, heavy grade gear oil, heavy grease, I would like to stiffen it up but still have a little movement for turning,I was in the kitchen today and thought, molasses or corrn syrup...has anyone tried these? or?

Re: Locking a diff

problem with molasses or anything similar to it is they will dry out, fairly quickly, plus it would be a pita to clean up. That's why most people use something synthetic.

Personally, whenever I get the chance I'd rather buy a spool than stick anything in there.

Not to mention all the ants and whatever else that would eventually work their way into your RC stash.

Go with a heavy oil and save your creativity for something beneficial.
