listen to ron, very knowledgeable guy. i jumped in with a mcpx and a 450 clone. although the mcpx is very good to learn on as it takes quite a pounding the 450 is much more stable.

I also saw that you are from Lake Country. If you haven't already, go and meet up with the club guys that fly there. I know several of them and they are very helpful, knowledgeable and can make your learning experience much easier. Once you pick your first heli, I would recommend getting one of the club members out there to take it for it's maiden flight if it's a ccpm heli. If those aren't set up right, or of poor quality, then it will only make learning to fly more difficult and expensive. In fact I would recommend checking out the club before you buy your first heli. Believe me it will save you money in the long run.

And don't forget some of the other advice already given on here.

I learned how to fly RC aircraft at Port Coquitlam RC field back in the mid 80s!
Lived in Port Moody at the time.
