Ignition dying? MOVED TO "Large Engines"

I've got a 3W80 with about 20 trouble free flights. Flew 3 times on Sat. and the ignition battery needed almost 1900 mah to recharge! Very unusual amount of power for only 3 eight minute flights. On Sun. I was just completing the first circuit of my second flight when the motor just stopped dead! Was in a pretty good place and managed to dead stick to a good landing. Upon inspection everything seems good. Power from the battery and through the switch was good. Connections all seemed tight. Spark plug was not fouled and the ignition did make a spark. Put it back together and it started up right away... Jiggled all connections without causing a hiccup. The motor is tuned pretty well but it may be a hair on the rich side. Other than the unusual amont of power drain the day before and the unexplained deadstick it all seems normal.

My question: is the unusually high power drain an indication that the ignition module may be giving up the ghost (at least intermittently)? Anything else I should be looking for? Any way for me to check the operation of the module? I don't trust flying this plane until I figure this out!
