A buddy had a British Juggernaught Pulsejet engine we used to fly at the local airport on a controline plane in the late 50s. Had to use a tire pump to start it and a model A coil to keep the spark plug firing for starting. This made the most horendous noise after it started. You could feel your whole body pulsing. No earmuffs back then The plane, more of a tube with about a two and a half foot wingspan. I'd hang on to the wingtips while you could feel the heat on the inside of your legs as you straddled it, while the pipe got white hot. He ran out to the handle as fast as he could because he knew what I was going through. It would do about 6 laps at about a 100 mph on 75 ft lines This was an adrenalyn rush I'll not forget
Tried for my kamikazi pilots licence. Flunked the test.
