Definitely an air trap as Angus said must be installed correctly.

I believe it is ALL of our intentions to correctly install a UAT. But yet they continue to leak for several reasons.

Leak points..
Cap
Cap/barb(to pump)
Barb/ fuelline
UAT/fill barb
UAT/vent
Vent barb/vent line

Well there's 6 points. Not to mention the added weight of 250g full.

Your right again but it never came came to thought due to never having an air trap leak at the cap or fittings, ( use only MAP air traps) and that's at least 12 jets. Again personal preference but the overwhelming majority will use them.

I bought a Turboprop Yak from a fellow 3 years ago when I got it he told me of unknown mid flight flames outs, when I dug into the plane there was no air trap put one in and never had a flame out.

Re: Jets Munt news

Yup and I believe that is the same Wren 44 TP I have in my Boss Beaver bought from Angus and had perfect flights on the weekend. Of course had his MAP air trap installed. When refuelling you can see the trapped air being removed thru the refueling lines. If the slight added weight difference is of a concern then in the wrong sport. Also advantage of a UAT you can pretty much get that last few oz's of fuel from the main tank before flameout due air but no way would that work with a non UAT install, as you will be sucking air much sooner. Plus , Plus and Plus's.

TenFour Angus. But just an FYI for anyone reading this and wanting to try going with NO UAT.

You cannot just use any clunk! You must replace the clunk with a paper pleated filter. That is the secret behind going UAT free

Re: Jets Munt news

Have a point that was not previously stated about the pleated paper filter but question is just how low can the tank get before it sucks air ; to the top of the filter or ?

Well,. I had to maiden my FB F-5. The flight ran a bit long and when I landed..I popped the cover(engine running) to find there was only 1/4" of fuel left. That's pretty darn low I'd say. Lol
