Small warning if you are building the C-ARF Skygate L39, the Aileron ROD that holds the hinge system is not fixed and slides out by itself.
I was putting the finishing touches today and saw the rod slipped out inside the wing.
Make sure you fix it in place otherwise it might slip out in flight and you will loose the Ailerons.

Re: Skygate C-ARF L39 build thread and virtual manual

Have not updated in a while but the L39 is almost done.
Just some final touches and calmer winds to test fly.
Lexon lights are very bright, very happy about that.

Re: Skygate C-ARF L39 build thread and virtual manual

Gear sequence all done. Electric gear doors and spoilers, air landing gear.

This is the first time the L39 moves on its own power.
The L39 is 118" - 3m long and 93" - 2.37m wing span.
Weight is 44.5lbs dry including 1.75lbs of nose weight to get the CG right.
Tank is 5.2L or 8lbs making it 52.5lbs wet.
Power is Behotec 220, 50lbs of thrust which has a size and weight platform of a typical 27lbs turbine.

This L39 should be a lot of fun.

Exactly the same issue on my 3.1 meter Sukohi SU-31 from CARF. As there was NO way to pin the rod on the inside, I inserted a 3/4" piece of Carbon Fiber tubing on the outside tip that I glued in with "GOOP". If I need to remove the Aerilon I can jet drill into the Carbon Fiber Rod and remove it and then push out the Aerilon Rod.

So far it's worked well for me.

BUT WISHED CARF HAD MENTIONED SOMETHING IN THEIR MANUAL! NOTHING AT ALL

Peter, CONGRATS on the successful maiden of the L-39 today at BRCM! She is a beauty!

Peter used about 100ft of the 300ft runway to bring the big bird down!

Re: Skygate C-ARF L39 build thread and virtual manual

Thanks Mike for letting me fly at your field.
Great thanks to Doug who cam up with the idea to fly there and for all his help today.
I am glad that I persisted and proceeded with the test flight.
Here are some pictures on the ground after the test flight.
Doug took some videos which will be complied and uploaded later.

Very predictable plane and docile to fly. I will come back with CG and travel recommendations.
