HAHAHA...breakin gin a picco...hahahhaa

Turn the hsn in atleast 2 turns...it is way to rich...

Let it idle for two tanks...and then do the figure 8's and stuff for three more..

Then it will start to come alive

AFter about the 8-10th tank..turn the HSN in to about flush with the housing, and the lsn in to the same (the outer housing)

Then it's prety much set, there will be fine tuning, and some grumpyness.. but it is a great engine once you get it by the initial pains

If you still ahve the bog at half acceleration, it is too rich on the lsn
The picco is mch affected by the lsn during accelration than most engines, and it can flood itself (hence the bad bog) drunig acceleration.

It will idle beutiflly once set, and run like a dream..

If you ahve a temp gun..try to run it around the 220 -240 range...once it is set...

For break in..keep it around 180-190 tops

This is the PM i got from a buddy during my break in woes..

I had tons of flooding issues and bogging issues as well. The LSN needle was the culprit. I know that at 3/4 throttle the LSN is not supposed to have little effect but it did for me. My Picco continually loaded up and was a *beep* during break in. Once I leaned the LSN to 8.25-8.5 turns from bottom it has been a dream. Try that and see how it goes. My temps still have not been over 240 and I am quite lean....gotta be the Nova head. Almost too cold.....

So that is waht i did..but stayed at flush..or there abouts..and it was very easy...

Have fun...

There are lots of ways to break in an engine..and if you choose to use the method of "idle" break-in for the first few tanks, then you run the risk of the clutch causing friction on the clutch bell- which in turn creates heat. Heat which can be great enough to soften the material on a non-metallic spur gear. Then when you do stress it during a run it just strips. This may be the reason your spur gear went "kaboom". I've seen it 'cause I've done it!
To finish first....first ya gotta finish!
