Servos :)
Ok maybe not a new product, but this is a good must read review
Servos. High-speed high torque, you need them, with today’s monster trucks and large size tires the standard servo is a thing of the past. There are allot of manufactures of servos, to many to list, but what is it, you look for in a servo, Torque.... speed,.... metal gears.... and most of all price, oh and we can’t forget durability Well you just dropped a ton of money in your MT and want the biggest tires you can get, or just a 40 series tire, you are going to need a high torque servo no doubt about it... but do you really want or need to spend 100+ dollars? NO What if I told you, you can get a high torque servo for 1/2 that? And I mean high torque like "Torque: 126 oz.in, Speed: 0.15 sec./60° at 4.8V" or "Torque: 181 oz.in, Speed: 0.17 sec./60° at 4.8V" I have seen this servo in action in a truckzilla, with extra large tires and this servo turns the wheels like they were nothing I have ever seen I have seen it in a LST with super large wheels, and this servo has no problems handling the over size tires Ok ok you want to know who makes this servo, well its not hitec, or JR or futaba, but don’t get me wrong, it is still a tough servo, ok here we go Blue Bird! BMS-620 High-Torque Standard Size Servo JR/Hitec Weight: 45 Grams / 1.58 oz, Torque: 126 oz.in, Speed: 0.15 sec./60° at 4.8V BMS-621 High-Speed Standard Size Servo JR/Hitec Weight: 41 grams / 1.45 oz., Torque: 89 oz.in, Speed: 0.13 sec./60° at 4.8V BMS-631 Super Fast Standard Size Servo JR/Hitec Weight: 43 grams / 1.52 oz., Torque: 69 oz.in, Speed: 0.10 sec./60° at 4.8V BMS-620MG High-Torque Standard Size Servo JR/Hitec Weight: 51 grams / 1.80 oz., Torque: 126 oz.in, Speed: 0.15 sec./60° at 4.8V BMS-621MG High-Speed Standard Size Servo JR/Hitec Weight: 47 grams / 1.66 oz, Torque: 89 oz.in, Speed: 0.13 sec./60° at 4.8V BMS-630MG Super Strong Standard Size Servo JR/Hitec Weight: 49 grams / 1.73 oz., Torque: 181 oz.in, Speed: 0.17 sec./60° at 4.8V BMS-631MG Super Fast Standard Size Servo JR/Hitec Weight: 46 grams / 1.62 oz., Torque: 69 oz.in, Speed: 0.10 sec./60° at 4.8V And for you micro guys BMS-380MAX Micro Servo Weight: 17.2 Grams / 0.64 oz, Torque: 57.0 oz.in, Speed: 0.16 sec./60° at 4.8V BMS-380MG Micro Servo Weight: 16.4 Grams / 0.58 oz, Torque: 50.0 oz.in, Speed: 0.15 sec./60° at 4.8V BMS-380 Micro Servo Weight: 13.8 Grams / 0.48 oz, Torque: 35.0 oz.in, Speed: 0.13 sec./60° at 4.8V BMS-371 Micro Servo Weight: 9.4 Grams / 0.33 oz, Torque: 21.0 oz.in, Speed: 0.12 sec./60° at 4.8V here is an AVI file showing torque measurement. Horn length is 1 cm. Video is showing 6V measurements. Digital scale is reading in Kilograms: http://www.balsapr.com/avi/BMS-630JMG.AVI For reference: http://www.balsapr.com/avi/Sanwa-VX.AVI

Have you seen them anywhere local?
I tried to get Discount Hobbies in Oshawa to order me a set.. he's never called me back about them yet... I know that Balsa Products in the US sells them but they don't sell to Canada, their Canadian distributor is Leading Edge Hobbies in Kingston, but leading edge doesn't list them on the web... at least not last I checked... I asked Arden @ A&J Hobbies about getting them, he said he would check but I haven't followed up yet...

Watch out with these guys, I have had one and it didnt even see the dirt when it died. My LHS has told me that im not the first to have this happen to them. It seems a hit or miss thing my good friend that bashes with me has one in his Tmaxx, he has only had it for a few weeks but it works great.

It's funny how they also compare the servo to the Sanway ERG-VX servo and only note the torque....speed is also important..especially in a racing envrionment. These are spec'd for .17s...the Sanwa they compare to is .10s HUGE difference...
I'll stick with Airtronics/JR/KO/Futaba for now...once more of these hit the market then maybe i'll take a look if they can handle the abuse that RC cars can dish out and move smoothly and accurately find center |
