Hello all.

After great deliberation and consultation (with many facets of RC and racing)
The decision for the 2005 Great Lakes series is as follows.

1st Place will be a tie between Dan Black, and Joe Parent.
3rd place awarded to Endler, and so on so forth from there.

I received a lot of advice and information over the last 3 or so weeks.
The majority of people I spoke to offered some great tie breaking idea's

Here are several of those.
1. best season finishes.
2. best throw. (highest throw added) (roar)
3. Fastest time.
4. final finish.
All have validity and are used in a variety of sport, and organized competitive competition.

However the point that was raised by almost all was this.
Without a clear and decisive rule going into the year, it would
be unfair to select a winner after the fact.

I thank everyone for the input, and look forward to a better racing season next year.

To move on with business we now need to decide on a rule for the 2006 series on the issue of ties.

I personally like either the best final race finish (I believe this is used in motorcross) or the best season throw away. (Meaning we add this to the total score at the determination of a tie.). This is similar to roar and ifmars ruling.

Constructive posts only please.

Following this I will start another thread and get next years season scheduling under way.

Thanks to all.

Alrighty.. on with bigger and better ideas..

Good work guys.. glad we are past it and going forward.

Now for more ideas..

In my opinion.. I would like to see the best series throw away.. as it gives reason to have a good series..and attend more races.

As well.. I would like to see the number of used point races a larger percentage of races in the series.. for example.. if we have 9 races next year.. then we must attend 4 and 4 will count for points.. the more races that count.. the less chance of a tie..
Keep up the good work..

Bellvegas - 4th A-MAIN Truggy

Good decission Todd! Congrats to all who competed this year!!

The reason I like the motocross way for a tie is because a) It is simple b) It brings it right down to the wire and raises that whole level of excitment going into the last race knowing you are racing for all the marbles

It is hard to believe this idea of a points series all started that day we had the 1000 members party in Woodbridge and it kind of grew from there. Many have talked about it for years but hey WE DID IT, I think we all have to agree the test year went better than we all expected and caused many RC enthusiasts to blow the dust off there cars and come out racing. There are lots of areas for improvment and comunication but that was to be expected. Next year is going to be unreal!!

i think using the drop would be a good Idea...I know the R/C Pro series does maybe we should follow suit..
I also think maybe we should use more races for the total too...and maybe rework the way points are handed out?
most points series I've seen the difference between 1st and 2nd in a race is at least 5 pionts and then it usually goes down in smaller points 3pionts down per spot...that way the person that wins a race is rewarded for it , by getting a couple extra points.
had a blast this year.... looking forward to seeing everyone soon!
