Below is a release that we have sent out to as many people/forums/businesses that we could think of.
Effective May 24, 2005, R2C2 will be on a long term hiatus. We have experienced so much during the last couple of years, and learned a whole lot. One thing that we did learn is that the RC community is jam packed with a whole lot of really cool guys (and girls) and we owe you all for our decent run as a startup RC company.
Over the course of the last two years, both Steve and myself have watched as new products came out, and others fizzled. We have a sort of inside scoop on why the ones fizzled out did so.
We have both seen this hobby of ours change drastically, more so on a personal level. Our hobby became one that turned in to more work than fun. We have had some customer service issues, we know, and definitely no shortage of shipping problems. We have, inadvertently made some people unhappy with us, and we do apologize for it. We do want to stress that we were never really in this to get rich, but more to serve the hobby in a way that was not being served at the time. In the beginning, that is exactly what was happening. But that seems to have changed.
Lack of funding, problems with shipping, unpredictable manufacturing environments, as well as questionable demand forecasts have forced us to rethink our direction, and consider the (temporary?) end of R2C2.
We have found out that we are a pretty well known name in the RC community, and that fact alone has made us extremely proud. The first line of this release is not “Going out of business” for a reason. We are going to leave for a while, as the R2C2 entity, but we are hoping very much to be back in the not so distant future. You can surely expect to see Steve and Myself hanging around the forums and discussion boards, and will likely see more of us, now that we will be more focused on our Hobby, as opposed to the business.
To all of the people that helped us on the way; customers, suppliers, and those of you who have encouraged us as well as talked to us about our product line, we thank you…VERY MUCH. We hope to see you around, and will be looking forward to chatting from the level that got to be more and more attractive as we went along…as hobbyists.
With that, thank you all for a great run, it was a lot of fun, and don’t surprised if in a little while you see the name R2C2 crop back up and hopefully, be a much larger going concern.
To anybody that currently has orders with R2C2, we will definitely still be honoring them, as well as holding a liquidation sale from our website, and with the permission from the forum administrators, in the buy/sell/trade sections of the forum.
