The diffs can be oiled and re-buildable. A&J Hobbies sells the kits. The XTM diffs has a bad habit of loosening out on the 4 screws that hold the ring gear on. Replace your stock grabber screws with 20MM machine screw and it will never be ever loose again. I know, I wrote the Tips Thread for XTM Forum. I also Own an X-Factor, X-Terminator, and Mammoth now turned X-TerMoth. See my sigs. You might want to also shim the ring gear side with 2 shims and the pinion with 3 shims.

If you decide to buy the re-build kit or buy a new diff altogether, get the yellow cased diffs as they are the 2nd generation units. Better case and metal gears.
