The fate of Sunnidale Park in question

I was sitting down for the first time since the move and noticed a local paper had hit our front porch...

An article header caught my eye "Fight to save Sunnidale Park, again"
now I don't have a clue where the park is but I do recognize the name from previous threads..and some vids from members.

For those of you who do not know what the article was about here is a excerpt
........The city decides to put a water distribution system in the middle of it.

Don't feel badly if you didn't knowthis plan was on the radar screen at city hall.

What you need to ask first is why a staff recommendation says "a number of candidate sites for the ground-levelstorage were investigated, and only one site is technically feasible. This site is located in the Sunnidale Park area."

I am sure this is still the same city-designated passive park in our city plan? This is not a municipal operations area.

If you dont know what the fuss is about, take a look at an example of what a storage and booster pumping station looks like by driving past a similar pumping station on Anne Street north at Shirley Avenue. This will be a real eye opener.

City staff sent out the public notice to those within the required public notification area in a form letter dated June 14. The letter invited these local residents to attend a public open house at city hall from 4pm to 7pm on June 29. At this time of year, the meeting is sure to be very limited in attendance and objections.

The letter and obligatory public notice in the local paid-subscription newspaper were provided to meet the city's basic notification responsibilities. So, don't point your fingers at city staff.

The real question is where are council's priorities in Barrie today?...
The story goes on to tell about how the park was fought for and established by donation, and volunteer drives by residents...and previous councils.

The article appeared in the "This is Sunday Barries news magazine"
written by Patricia Copeland.

Thought it might be something interesting..I don't know how r/c friendly this location is but I know its been used a few times so if you want to voice your bit then goto the meeting on the 29th or and email your local councillor
