Calcium is very corrosive for RC Cars. I don't recommend using calcium to keep the dust down. Sure it is an easy fix and works great. But at the price of every racer getting rusty parts on their vehicles. Racers will surely get upset and will want you to stop using the calcium. I am speaking from experience. I have spoken with many racers from the PA area that used to use calcium on their track. It ruins RC cars!
Just thought I would give you a heads up, save you the hassles and headaches associated with calcium.

Allthough it is completely against the law in the USA, the practice still goes on in the back woods (bush). Any type of petrolium based product will do the same thing with keeping the dust down. But it is very bad for the enviorment, and hence very against the law in the states.

Sorry to go off topic like this... But I have researched this very same area, DUST CONTROL, for a long time. It's a pain I know. But I forgot about another enviroment safe, and RC Car safe solution.

It is actually made in Canada, and is called Dust Stop.

I am an Engineer with the New York State Department of Transportation. We require contractors to provide dust control on highways. Safe for the enviorment is the number one priority. I have seen this stuff in action. Works great!

Below is their link. The stuff works wonders! I definately recommend this, but your going to pay, and will need some sort of way to apply to the surface.

Rust

How many parts on your car are steel?
most everything is aluminum or titanium.
they dont rust.
we have been using it for 5 years now and the only thing that has rusted is hinge pins on suspension arms.
they are about the only steel parts on the car.
BTW if you clean the car it doesn't rust at all.
as far as environmentally friendly. frankly we WANT to kill the weeds. So friendly is not the point.
Besides cycling all the dust thru your car and lungs is just as hard on the equipment as any calcium caused rust.
especially if you run electric.
Most places are on a well and therefore watering the track 3 times a day is not an optiion.
most times by the time you water to the end of the track you need to start watering the start again.

Don't worry PBJ it's a PRIVATE track, remember...

Not to worry about Orangeville track's calcium harmful effects on your RC, PBJ, because as xxfile said:

"sorry still private."
--------

That's means you NOT allowed on to run on this track so there's no need to worry about your steel parts.

Mac's track however is 'dust' and MUD included, I remember the MUD, I was COVERED in it @ last year's invitational , which in my mind, does say, to a large extent, it's an OFFROAD track, as opposed to a 'dust free' styled-track.
