Electronics question.

I have a Novak XRS speed control. I mounted it into my winter racer but I am not satisfied with where it is sitting in the car, of course the wires going to the motor are too short to allow me to move it where I would like it. The wires appear to be 16 gauge and all I have kicking around here is either 14 gauge which is pretty thick or 18 gauge which is of course a fair bit smaller. Would it hurt anything for me to use the 18 gauge? Keep in mind I dont think I can use the 14 gauge cause I wouldnt be able to fit it into the circuit board and solder it.
Thanks for any info guys.

it won't matter too too much, but of course, the 14 gauge would offer less resistivity than the 18. If you're just using it for casual races I'd use the 18 gauge, but if you're into hardcore racing, then you'd probably want to mod whatever you can to make the 14 fit like drilling the wire holes a bit bigger, then glob the solder on.

However theoretically, the wires wouldnt make a difference at all because chances are, the traces on the PCB of the ESC has the most resistance.
