Spektrum radio control sysytems www.spektrumrc.com announced today that they are realeasing a telemetry system. It is designed for nitro vehicles. It measures RPM, Temp, Battery level, signal strength and lap times. All sent to a hand held unit via an infrared beam. US list price is $189.99. I cant find the link on their web site so maybe check back and it will be up soon.

the system can handle the inputs.. BUT the radio can't receive them.. for example.. my M* can't do anything with that data.. so tehy decided.. becasue they came out with modules first.. to use a separate system. therefore .. the handheld.. the little transiever will sit in the car.. adn I guess you run the infrared ot a window or somethign like that..

Nomadio may have the upper hand here beacuse they started with the concept of telemetry and addressed it right in radio system... instead of working for market share first .. they worked for an integrated system first..

if that means mounting an external infrared led, or even having to take the body off to get readings, then the system is quite pointless. I think we were all expecting it to be compatible with the radio system, to receive real time data, not attempt to point the module at the car. btw, how is it possible to get info while the car is moving?

Is this a standalone system or can you adapt this to your existing radio?

It seems that it should work with just about any R/C system although I'm not clear on that yet.
As far as the Nomadio goes...you'll be able to see it at the Hobby Show in Toronto....they will have a representative there. Please take note of the "feel" and quality of the system...I'll let you decide.
Nomadio has been "develloping" their technology for over four years and have tried to partner up with other larger R/C companies ......they all chose to decline...it makes me wonder why?

If you want a chance to experiment with it at the show, then try contacting the distributor directly....they may jsut hook you up with a demo unit
