RCO is pleased to anounce the First Annual Eastern Canadian Micro Championship!

This winter during Winterlude, if you don't come to Ottawa for the skating, come for the hot indoor 1/18th RC car racing action. RC-Ottawa is pleased to present the first Eastern Canadian Micro Championship on the weekend of February 10-11-12, 2006. This will be a weekend full of 1/18th scale racing, multiple classes, multiple tracks and pit space for over 100 drivers.

Registration is now open

Click to Register

Stock: The most basic form of micro racing. This class will run 5cell packs, with stock motors and rubber tires. Other modifications are allowed, including chassis upgrades.

Pro: This gets a little more advanced, up to a 6cell pack driving any size brushed motor.
Open: This is for the big boys, any cells of any type, driving any motor, this should be fun!
Truck: The 1/18 trucks won't be left out of this weekend, with a track set aside just for them. This will be a mostly for fun class, anything goes as long as it's in a 1/18th truck..

Stock Micro: This is the dedicated RCO micro track.

Pro & Open: To give these guys a little more room to run we'll setup a track on the RCO 1/10th scale area.
Off-Road: The other half of the large RCO track will be done in an indoor off-road style for the mini-monsters.

Race Details & Cost

Each class will run four, 5 minute qualifiers. Stock will run a 10 minute main while the others will have a 5 minute main. The number of heats in each class will depend upon the number of entrants, but you can expect about 6 cars on the track per heat.

$20 for the first class and $10 for each subsequent class (before 31/01/2006)
$25 for the first class and $15 for each subsequent class (after 31/01/2006)

Friday: practice from 6.00pm to 10.00pm or more!!!
Saturday: doors open at 8.00am, registration closes at 10.30, qualification start at 11.00am (we will have 3 qualifications that day)
Sunday: doors open at 8.00am, 4th qualification start at 11.00 and the main after

Concours d’ Elegance

The 2006 RCO Micro Concours d’ Elegance/car lineup will part of the 2006 Eastern Ontario Micro Championship.

Racers are encouraged to paint their own bodies.

Besides the Concours d’ Elegance, group pictures and pictures of all cars will be taken as part of the event schedule.

Cars will be judged in three separate categories:
  • Most Authentic Paint Scheme
  • Best Paint Job
  • Best In Show
  • Only 1/18th scale cars are permitted
  • The body must be attached to a legal car chassis in some manner (that would be safe to “race” with)
(The car must meet the vehicle chassis rules.)
  • The car ID number must be prominently displayed on or near the car.
  • The winning body does not have to be raced, but we do encourage this
  • Have fun doing it!
  • Judging will be done via ballots by the racers.
  • Each racer will be given 3 ballots during registration, with the three categories listed on them.
  • The ballots will be listed with your Driver ID number, and will include spaces for the top three choices in each category.
  • The ballots will be collected by BODYWERX and used to determine the overall winners.
  • 1st place: 2006 RCO Micro Concours d’ Elegance plaque and certificate from BODYWERX
  • 2nd place: Certificates from BODYWERX
  • 3rd place: Certificates from BODYWERX

Parking: Parking at the RCO track is free.

Canteen: There will be a basic canteen service with chips, bars, coffee, drinks, hotdogs.
PitSpace: Each driver will have at least a 3'X3' pit space with chair.
HobbyShop: Event Sponse Hobby2000 has a small shop on-site, and a fully stocked location about 1km away.

Well folks I just figured I would give an update on how things are going as there are only 4 weeks to go before the race: things are going better then expected!!

Our sponsors are pouring in the goodies for us and we cannot thank them enough. Companies like Castle Creations (Mamba Engines & ESC), RC Mart, Magma International, Boca Bearings, Hobby 2000, RC CanWest(SMC), Multi Hobby, PTI Racing & we are continuing to add to the list each week!!

And of course we have to thank OFFROADRC.CA for the support as well!! We greatly appreciate the support they give to clubs in promoting RC across Canada!!
