we have a few of those at work.
workorder says " Check Brakes "
timeticket says " Vehicle seems to be equipped with brakes "
or " checked brakes - all present and accounted for "
workorder says " check for noise from rear "
timeticket says " source of noise is beans "
or " i'm not sticking my head down there to listen "
workorder says " check for squealing noise "
timeticket says " leave wife at home and squealing will stop "
or " drove past farm and squealing was heard. squealing stopped as i passed "
workorder says " check for thumping noise from rear "
timeticket says "thumping noise has stopped - found corpse in trunk "
service writers tend to get the occasional smartass reply because they happen to be the laziest bunch in the place. Instead of asking the customer a few questions that would help the technician to narrow down the concern quickly, they just make a brief note and expect us to have magic powers to find and correct the problem instantly. Instead of a workorder that says ' check brakes - light squeal noise at low speed when cold ', we just get ' check brakes '.
