really there is no cost difference... you'll end up spending as much money as you can on this hobby once you get into it... if your a starter and want something thats gonna work everytime you want to play with it, get an electric... nitros can be hand full sometimes with glow plugs and tuning and all that kind of stuff... i'd recomend a 2wd electric truck like the associated t3...

Well i am new to the rc mt scene. I do have a blade cp and a jr venture 30.But at xmas I got a mini lst and I must say it got me itching to go bigger. So I started looking online and once I seen some video of what the nitro mt could do well lets just say that sold me. 2 days ago I went out and picked up a savage 25(suppose to be one tough truck). I have already been out to the bmx track and am clearing the bigger doubles and no damage yet. Well broke my antenna tube on truck. Buddy with his revo blew a drive axle(hehehe). I`m all about going big or go home ,already considering going to axial .32 and 3 speed tranny to get that much more air. So like I was told and mentioned already, its very ADDICTIVE.

If money is tight I would recommend that mini lst .It rips for a little thing and I have been hucking it off my dinner table and off my snowmobile deck on my truck. Its all a blast to play with. No real damage yet and there are alot of hop ups for it too.

Good luck

What did you get?

there's one cool thing about a well setup electric car/truck - making the nitro guys jaw drop when they see it out accelerates and is faster than their nitro setups
