The Revo 2.5 R opti drive does not act as a failsafe, but I think the 3.3 optidrive acts as a failsafe.

On that note I got the Hi-Tec His-03MK receiver with the built in fail safe will this work properly with the revo or will it act up like the venom and the other failsafes mentioned?

The FS-1 applies the preset position when there's loss of signal and low battery. The FS-2 applies the preset position only when there's loss of signal. I have both models. Both work great.

The only difference is power consumption, which one should I look for.

Thanks again for your help.

The wire end of the servo would plug into the opti drive unit going to the throttle servo, and the throttle servo would plug into the in part of the failsafe
