Disgusted by the lack of tracks in the GTA, we are a group of individuals dedicated to the hobby of radio control who get together on a monthly basis to setup informal races in parks throughout the central Toronto area. Although we love all forms of R/C, our monthly get-togethers concentrate strictly on electric truck/buggy racing - NITRO is too noisy and disturbs too many people in public parks, therefore we only invite electric vehicles to race. The majority of us run 1/10th scale, however we welcome ANY scale electric vehicle to participate.
Each month a park will be chosen in the central Toronto area where the meet will take place. A course will be layed-out (usually consisting of pylons or trees as markers) and practice and "fun bashing" will take place for the first hour.
After the warm-ups, the official races will begin. Depending on track size, we usually run 5 races and the winners are those who receive the most points over the 5 races (3 points for 1st, 2 points for 2nd, 1 point for 3rd).
5 minute "pit breaks" will be given between heats to allow time for small adjustments and battery changes. In order to keep things moving along quickly, we cannot allow more than 5 minutes between races - if you aren't ready to start the next race, you will be given a DNF for that race but you can still participate in the remaining heats.
Each meet, ribbons will be awarded to the top 3 finishers. We will be keeping a points tally throughout the season to see who's leading, and small prizes will be awarded to the season's top finishers.
So if you're frustrated by the lack of tracks in the GTA, come on out and participate in our semi-formal races! Each meet will be different, and participants will be involved with helping to choose upcoming park locations.
What to bring:
RC Vehicle & Radio Equipment
FREQUENCY FLAG ATTACHED TO RADIO
Extra Frequency Crystals
Pit Box (tools, spare parts, etc)
Fully charged batteries
Water & Snacks
It is very important to remember to bring water or other hydrating liquids. Also, be sure to bring your chargers as some of us will be bringing cars or powerbox's capable of charging batteries.
It is MANDATORY to display your frequency/channel flag on your radio - if you lost your original simply use paper and a magic marker and tape it onto your radio antenna. For those sharing frequencies, we will do our best to accomodate. We will run multiple elimination heats, and if it turns out two people with the same frequencies need to race hopefully we can swap crystals temporarily to facilitate the race.
