Big "sport" bigblocks vs. modded high qual .21s?

I looking for a one more engine to complete my buggy race setup. My Mayhem runs the stock .26 which is quite beastly! I also run XTM .247s with my X-Terminators and these are also pretty powerful.

How would an RB C5/C6 or a modded Novarossi Plus 21-5 compare to these types of sport engines? Can a high quality Rossi, RB, or JP .21 engine be as fast or faster than the same buggy with a Sportwerks .26 or XTM .247?

regards

a good 21 will rev higher, have all the punch you need and get better fuel economy.

yep... 21 will be better... although you also have some high end 28 like the rb 928 that will perform as good if not better than the high end 21... moded engines are in a class of their own

Wow that's wierd. Totally the opposite of what I'm used to in the 1:1 car world. Bigger bigblocks make bigger power. But that's not the case in the 1/8 RC world eh? I guess the race .21s just get more R&D time than the sport bigblocks that come in the RTRs. Seeing how an ultra powerful .21 would probably be too much for a beginner to try and tune as well. It's starting to make sense to me now

I'll be interested to see how my self-modded XTM .247 compares to my professionally modded RB C6BB. I won't be changing any timing on the XTM but I'm pretty sure that my RB will have its timing optimized.

I suggest getting a .21

For 8th buggies, you are suppost to run a .21 or the stock engine in the car ex mayhem with sportwerks .26.

Yup, I just bought an RB C6BB modded my RB Mods! Shouldbe a killer! Not only that, I should get way better gas mileage than that gas guzzler Sportwerks .26!
