Starter box won't turn engine

I bought a used OFNA blue starter box (gel cell and large motor) but it will not turn over my Force .28 engine. It did once but now the motor just stalls. The buggy engine has about 1 gallon through it and starts fine with the handheld rotostart. I tried connecting the box to my car battery but it didn't make any difference. I cleaned the comm and checked all the wire connections. The motor does not have any marks to set the timing other than the cutout for the wires (not sure if this could be an issue). Any thoughts.

first thing you should do is change all the wiring in the box, upgrade it to a heavier grade! this will improve the torqe and power of the box

is the motor new? if it is, then preheat it with a hair dryer before you try to start it

Check your gell cell might need to replace it or might need a larger one like 7AH

check the batt...make sure the charge is well enough to even turn over a .12 motor.........i had problems with my starter box when i was trying to crank over my brand new .12 REX motor....sometimes there is just so much compression in the motors they wont turn over even if the batt is charged up fully...make sure the batt is charged up all the way

Do what Chuck said and chang the wires first. If that doesn't do it. Check to see if the motor is working right. As you stated you hooked it up to a car battery. So you know it's either the wires or motor. The motor isn't expensive as far as I know. It would have to be ordered from OFNA. Unless you can find one locally or at Princess Auto. Hope this helps a little.
