Close brush with death(the buggy not me)..

Well, my first nitro experience wasn't exactly a good one. I started the buggy out in my garage. Door open, pointing towards the street. I started it up thinking WOW this thing is really loud. So I take out the glow plug and..BYE BYE buggy.. The thing shoots away so fast I didnt have time to pick up my transmitter again. Hits the curb going top speed and cuts out.

I'm sure the look on my face was a Kodak moment, I ran over to see what had broken.. Only the exhaust mount(I think thats what its called) broke surprisingly, going top speed into the curb. The dial on my transmitter for throttle was up all the way..dang im retarded..

Anyways, feel free to roll on the floor laughing.

BTW Nino, the truck runs great like you said

Edit, I think throttle was reversed on my transmitter so it started full out?

If the rubber spring looking think coming out of the carb is compressed.. does this mean it full throttle or just idle?

good thing you didnt hit a person!!!

check everything next time before starting the buggy.....turn transmittor on first............than the car

check throttle and steering

once you see everything is good

start the car

Hmmm.. Similar experience.. ^^;

This one night, I was running at the 'BRICK-Hobbyhome' parking lot...
When I was ready to turn my truck, Some1 stoped me to ask a
thing or two regarding RC, and I was totally forgetting 'bout
my truck~!

( I thought it was stopped.... but Poor me~! it was
rolling.....rolling.... rolling... BAH!!!!)

In just couple of sec, it rolled under my car... and.... The antenna
broke...... -> Or you may say it just ripped off.... )

Hey.. I guess that's how we learn things.. ^^;
I didn't' know any s t 'bout Rc until couple weeks ago... and
now learning thing a bit by bit.....

(Believe me.... you got some exp from Eps... but I'm still a newbie..)

You wrote that you only ripped off the muffler mount but check
everything just like others suggested... 'cause you don't know where
it's been damaged until you actually break things....

(Me? I only thought the antenna... but drive shaft, next day.....then
upright..... shock tower.... steering rod (It's still vented slightly) ...
recoil starter...... onething at a time.....I had to go to Avdanced for
5 days in a row.... Don't ask me how much I hda to pay... it really
hurts me..... )

But I learned lots of things and can fix most of problems on my rc
now.. ^^

So I hope you enjoy your new buggy as much as you can....
Hey.. at least we are havin fun just by seeing them runnin, are we not?

I wish you all the best~!!!!

Mike aka zard88

PS: Hey.. I know I can't even be as good as you or any experts
in this forum... so if I sound '*y' in anyways, please forgive me.

Nitro Crusher... everything stock.....
newbie of the newbies..

Chassis - NDF-01
Engine - OS/Tamiya FS15S
Gear - Single speed stock

Please make some metal parts! TAMIYA!!!

->That's right~!

hahahaahahah, its all good
i can laugh cause i did something somewhat similar, though i think only 3/4 throttle really rich, and of course more stupid in a sense...
basically, that time i shouldnt have rolled out of bed and the first thing i did was try to start my truggy when i was just half awake lol...

get a box or something to start your car on top, that way, only the wheels will spin.

But yea, at least u didnt reallie break much (same here)...I bent my rear center universal, popped my front right shock and messed up the glow starter...i think that's all? Still haven't tried startin it since then lol, too traumatized...

but at least ur buggy cut out after it hit....mine continued, but lucky the glow starter was still on, so it was able to just rev upside down...freaking tires ballooned like crazy...

Here Is some Advice I can Give you...Make Sure you have a Throttle Return Spring On...this will prevent it from taking off in such case....

My very first Nitro i owned was about 15 years ago.....I went up to our local track to i checked everything over all looks well.....

Started it up went on the Track went a few laps ..then all of a Sudden down the front straight's like it had a mind of its took off ...

Needless to say there was a 4 foot Bank there and it Launched ..And i mean Launched about 20 feet in the Air....then a big crash then Silence....

I was wondering what the Outcome would be....

I get to my Buggy and well you guessed it ...i broke in 1/2 and the Motor was gone...

I finally recovered the Motor...

I learned a good Lesson from this and thats when someone told Me to Put a Throttle Return spring in it...Never had a Problem Since...

Hey If i can dig up the Pics of the Buggy I'll post them for Ya...

Anyways Happy Racing and Have Fun..
