i used an AM radio and receiver all summer at sids and other various places. i never had a single little glitch or i never had anyone at the track with the same channel as me.

i decided to get a regular fm radio with spectra just because i never had interference problems and now that everyone has spektrum it will be very rare for other people to have your channel. in my case if someone does happen to have my channel i can change it in seconds.

if for whatever reason the FM system sucks i can always buy a spektrum module and use it with my radio.

Spektrum's pretty good for sure. Nothing like not having to worry about "stealing" someone else's car when you turn your radio on! The only way to go with newbies.

But Nomadio's wayyy better! Same idea, (2.4 Ghz) but the Nomadios are much faster. The response time is near instant. Faster than Futaba's HRS. Faster than Spektrum Pro. And to top it off it's got built in telemetry. Nomadio is awesome. That's all I can say! Once you try it you'll see what I mean.

I was old school AM for 15yrs and now that I've gone Spektrum I'd NEVER EVER go back. No glitches regardless of anything be it your motor, someone elses electrical problems, environment etc...I see Futaba is working on the DSM system as well...It is the future. And I haven't even raced with it yet. I can't wait till the weather warms

I was very paranoid about switching to a Spektrum module when I was debating about it due to the rumours about latency and responseness. However all doubts were gone after the first use. In fact it seems even more responsive than my old AM radios. I will never look back, the convenience and piece of mine is great. Best thing to come into this hobby.

And yes due to many people having Spektrum using a AM /FM isn't so bad now but as many of the old racers know it was quite a pain before. Especially if you only had 1 pair of crystals.
