what are you using it for, if its just for playing around, they are very good, they are farily cheap, and parts are cheap for them, I think they also have that stress tech warrenty thing on them,

if you plan to play around and do a little racing, they are probally ok, same as above, gets you on the track for a little cheaper, but hardly no one races them, so if you break something you dont have at the track, you may be screwed, they also wont work quite as good, or will take alot more $$$ to make work good,

if you will be stricktly racing, stay away from them, like above, no one hardly runs them, where if you have a losi or AE, chances are someone will have a part you can borrow to get back running if you break at the track, while the Duratrax would be ok to start with, the Losi and AE are way better race machines, the will do everything better right out of the box, so you are better spending the extra up front, and then you dont have to spend it again,

my opinion

I have the Losi matt francis 2 truck and let a guy from the track who drives/drove an duratrax. He said that the Losi was way better handling and easy to drive.

as the old saying goes if something is worth buying spend the money and buy it once, don't keep buying and buying. ie don't buy a cheap 20dollar servo to steer your truck, when you will just end up buying a more expensive faster stronger servo later.

if you are going to just bash around your house, buy whatever your local hobby shop will support. some shops only carry duratrax while others carry associated and or losi.

my 2 cents worth.

I know with the electric one, many of the losi parts were interchangeable...

I had an electric but never drove it. it looked pretty good. a friend got it for his nephew locally and he told me some of the losi parts he used. after seeing and old quake eat difs, I wasn't too sure about the brand. I had an F1 and it was an amazing car. we passed the controller around, it handled good, and was super tough. never broke, even after stuffing the front fin under the velcro'd square pvc pipe many times(esc brakes sucked) I looked closer at duratrax now before passing a bad judgement
