just wondering how long 1/8 scale nitro buggy tires last. i know it depends on compound and track and all but what would be average time with smooth driving. im thinking of racing nitro buggy next season but i read somewhere that the tires wear out very quickly and i dont want to replace tires every race. if i get a buggy i will be mostly using GRP tires.

It really depends on how abrasive the surface is. They last way longer than one race weekend. Those 1 hour A mains can change things though.

I agree with Mugenman... depends on the surface but I have never destroyed a set of tires during a weekend race... Although some people do this at times but they typically are running the longer mains and are at times throttle happy

I usually end up using 1 set of tires for 9 - 12 qualifiers @ 7mins each, plus 3 or 4 mains of 20 minutes, plus a little practice time in between. After that they are practice tires. Basically it was 3 - 4 race weekends for me. They lasted a lot longer when I was running a RB 3 Port engine then when I went to the WS7-3 though...

Alot has to do with tire compound also. A soft tire on an abrasive track is going to wear out faster than a hard compound tire on the same track. Track surface pretty much dictates tire wear.
