Actually it was Red Deer that hosted the race and they did a great job.
Calgary did have the largest turnout to the event though.

red deer

While we were in Red Deer we took in the fabulous haute cuisine of .....

Chewy, Glen and I also took a little scenic detour on the way back to Calgary airport.

Anyways back to some race info. My new Losi eight buggy was good from day 1 of qualifying, after I received some tuning tips from Dave and Gareth.

I won 3 out of my 4 qualifiers and each one would have put me in the show. Usually I only have one real good run so I was real happy with that. Which put me in a early 4th position eventually settling into a 7th
place starting position. Here is the qual order..

I took this of Gareth doing a lap.

During the race there were some prizes to give away so the announcement went out that the first person to bring a blown Jammin engine up to the Booth will receive a free new engine. Well, that was it the race was on!!!!

Unfortunately a rather large man when running back with his engine collided with a race volunteer and knocked her flat on her face. She received 6 stitches and a nice shiner for her trouble. I don't rememember her real name but her nickname was "Bubbles". She was very gracious when I asked her to pose with a injury.!!!!
Poor Gal.....

I have one more thing it is a direct comparision of A-main Open truggy vs. Sportsman Truggy. I beleive there is a need for such classes at large races.

Well that is about it I don't have the a-main results, never saw them. Later.

2008 Winternats Conclusion!

(As taken of RC-Tech Forum)

Hey all,

First off, thanks to the Clutch Nutz for putting on a great event, even with some minor mis-cues!

Secondly, as for comments on the track. I appreciate the truth about my creations on anything and this particular subject is closer to me than others. I received thanks on certain areas and stern criticism on others. It (the track) did exactly what it was designed to do, give racers options on how to attack the track. Like one said in and earlier post, "challange", challange the drivers and thats what its all about! I have already started thinking about the tracks I am designing presently and the comments have given me a new perspective on what my layouts represent! Thanks for the comments on this! Plus I would welcome some PM's on track design theory, not only for Winter Nats, but for club tracks as well!

Thirdly, to all my fellow racers from across Canada and the USA, without you guys and gals, this type of event would not fly.

See yawl next year, 2009 Canadian Winter Nationals!

Best Regards,
Lawrence "Budz" McCorrister

Did anyone find a SD flashcard by the RD Booth, I think I may have left one there on Sunday evening after the races? It's blue and holds 1Gig. PM me if youv'e found one. You can keep it, I just want the pics off it!!!

Just wondering if anyone from the Red Deer club has a losi banner with the canadian flag in the logo, I forgot to pick it up before I left.
