Thoughts on Lipo Alarms

Has anyone tried using a Lipo alarm on stock ESC's to warn of low voltage before it goes too low?

I have been reading about several from the home made to the professional looking types. They allow for a gradual cutoff as they are motsly used in planes and Heli's.

I was looking for one for my Blade CX but my kids also have Lipos for their 1/18th scale trucks (Mini-T and Mini LST) that came with the trucks.

I just bought one, but haven't used it yet, the truck isn't together. It's an LED (I'll mount in the body) when the light comes on it's time to shut her down. Pretty cheap compared to buying a high end ESC.

lipo alarm

Instead of using a lipo alarm in my 10th scale cars, I bought a device that hooks between your esc and receiver from Novak that automatically shuts off power to your esc when a certain voltage is hit.

Worked fine for me, but was around $40 if I remember right.
When you consider a good orion hard case lipo pack is $120 the $40 investment is cheap in the long run.

follow this link to see them.
