Practise on scrap lexan.....the stuff goes into the garbage anyways. Its used as packaging for all kinds of goods. Perfect media to practise on, you can learn masking sequence with it.

One simple grafic is the monster energy drink logo. Just take strips of masking tape and cut jagged edges on it. Lay them down in whatever shape you want. Easy and effective.

Also you can get some supplies from dollar stores. Things I grabbed are:
Xacto knife
cutting mat
mactac (shelf paper)
1oz plastic cups
pipe cleaners

Pop Bottles

2L plastic pop bottles (rinse and let dry) are also great to practise w/ your airbrush. Cut off the spout then cut them lengthwise and you'll have 2 halves to use.

good tips

Those are all good tips guys, thanks. I would have never thought to use a pop bottle to practice. Im working on a design for my new Baja SS and Im going to get a little more creative on that one. I'll post it when Its done.

Question: Is it true that the fastcolour paints will peel off If they get wet? How do I prevent this? Would a regular paint backing work?

Fascolor needs to be cured onto the surface, so a heat gun (on low) is used to heat/dry the paint.Let it sit for 48-72 hrs then to seal it and reduce the scratches I spray an automotive clear on the inside. Make sure you leave the protective film on the outside until all painting is done.

what would you recommend I pickup for airbrushing? I've been thinking about picking up an airbrush and a compressor... not sure what I should go with? Is buying used a good idea?
