LiPo and Crawling

How many of you run using Lipo batteries on your crawlers?
Do you do anything special to protect them from damage when crawling?
Where do you have them mounted in your rig?
When I first got into RC about a year ago, I got myself a TREX 450XL and I found myself with three sets of rather expensive batteries.
After a while I learned that when you crash your heli, even if it is a very minor scrape, it really hits you in the wallet. While whining about how expensive this hobby is I somehow got into crawling and found out that you can roll a crawler down a cliff and as long as it lands wheel side down, you can keep on driving! Way cheaper than a heli!
So anyway, I had some Lipo already and used them in my crawler. I'm running a 3 cell 2170 mAh most times. I have it attached to the front of my crawler on the chassis and it is protected because it is between the frame rails. On my other chassis, it is mounted on the chassis as well, but parallel with the front axle and it is in a kind of sheet aluminum holder that protects it from bumps.
Sorry these are poor quality pictures. I took them with my phone. My real camera is out in the truck.
