Safe cleaners

hey peoples,

So i bought a can of this " Peak Racing, Powerwash " stuff for cleaning my RC when i was done, now at $10 for a 13oz can of this stuff i have a feeling i will be getting a new can once a week.

When i was in my local Princess Auto they had this same size cane "Electrical contact Cleaner" now the guy ther said it was the same stuff, just labled differently and that just like the peak racing stuff it was safe to use on all electrical and mechanical parts, that and it was 1/2 the cost.

Anyone have exerpeince?

I can't speak for what you found at Princess Auto but some electrical contact cleaners are hard on some plastics ... they usually say "test before using" my advice is if you can get your hands on a air compressor and eye protection blow off your buggy/truck as much as you can. You might be surprised on how clean you can get it with just air.

Hi there, contact Kevin Taylor ( BBFCAP) and he has all kinds of cleaner for sale at less then half the price of what you are using now. It is GREAT stuff and you actually get to save money. How often does that happen.

Good luck !

I use the Princess auto heavy duty power wash detergent to take the dirt off of my chassis. Put it in a spay bottle and soak the chassis down. Wait 15 minutes, then blow it off with a compressor. At $12 a gallon, it is the most economical solution and it is biodegradable.

Then I use thier carb and throttle body cleaner to clean the motors etc. It goes on sale for $3 a can so I pick up half a dozen of them at a time and they last a long time.

I like Princess Auto a lot, lol.

Usually for engine cleaning denatured alcool is the cleaner of choice, basicly fondue fuel in a spray bottle and you are good to go.After the complete clean-up and scrubbing you can spray wd-40 and wipe clean for the new engine look. Some poeple also use simple green maximum but make shure you wipe everything down properly as it can be a tad corrosive in some cases.

I prefer to finish off with furniture polish, or even lemon oil instead of wd40. it cleans and makes things just as shiny but smells a lot nicer so I can do it in the living room without complaints.

I have used abs safe brake cleaner for years and it is mainly for the bearings. I also like to spray cleaner on the plastic and use a steam blaster, in conjuntion with the air compressor.
