Arrow Traxxas VXL Brushless System

Hey all - anyone have any real world experience with a Traxxas VXL powered ride? Good, bad, ugly?

I'm looking at a Rustler VXL for some bombing around and casual racing. I know - it's not a cutting edge chassis or whatever, but the pricepoint is enticing.

Anyway - I heard a little rumbling that the motor is prone to burnout and was wondering if someone could provide some insight?

I have a Rusty VXL and so far it's been no problem.
I would suggest that most problems people have been experiencing are due to over-gearing or trying to squeeze too many volts through the motor.
I do have an issue with Traxxas suggesting that 8000mah LiPos are recommended however, that's a LOT of non-stop runtime for any motor and ESC. But hey, they should know right ?

Go for it!

I've had my Rustler VXL for about 3 weeks now. I bought it for the price and besides, it's a good break from nitro. So far I am very happy with it. I'm using a 2-cell Li-Po and speed and runtimes are very good. I know it's a "mild" brushless but the power is impressive. I've never had an electric vehicle this fast, and I'd say it's a keeper. I love it!

The VXL is fast.. Even on NiMh packs it's fast.. I run mine on Nimh and Lipo.. My NiMh packs are 9 cell 4500 and my lipo is a 3S 6000mah maxamps.. Tons of power!
