Dont get me wrong guys ... MANY MANY of you have been great ... I even editted my post because I, like the previous poster, ... I just wanna race ... Mike Burr, Dave Maclean, Dave Henry ... just to name a few, have been awesome ... there is no point to discuss the "other few" ... I just wanna have fun and forget the day to day crap I deal with when i am not at a track

Honestly I don't really care, one way or the other. The only thing that bothers me is that it shouldn't be based as your average lap. It should be your two best number of laps and times added together. eg ( 10 5:19 + 9 5:40 = 19 10:59.

Lets not hash this stuff at the begining of a new season it just bad form.

Guys theres is no were in Gumps post it asked for our opinion it merly states that the series will be using Quail points end of subject.

Like everything theres pros and cons so lets go racing .

Its great to see how the average racer(lack of a better term) such as Jedd views some of us long termers, thats not the picture we are trying to put out to the newcomers and trust me , not all of us are that way its just are crazy way of sorting things out .LOL

In summary lets try the qual points in GLORCS and see what happens ,and have a great year of racing .

On a more important note where is everyone staying for ftr Glorcs , Dave same place last year we can go for the 3 course dinner at the same place (name escapes me) We can show Gareth how us heavy hiters can down that prime rib they had there last year!!!!LOL

Matt

same place sounds good to me matt, i'll find out the name

brian, thank you.... you just stated the biggest problem with running qual. points:GRIN: only a 1/4 of the drivers we race with can do that just think how you and kyle felt when you ran them cen's at the pro series and broke all most every time out....wasn't alot of fun was it.......most racers struggle to have one good qual. let alone everyone

some racers been shooting to make it out of the basement for years and now they will be right back there again

I like the idea of qualifying points. If a couple of fast guys have bad runs it just makes racing in the lower mains more exiting when they are battling it out for the bump spot...

Qual points sounds good to me, especially if there is 4 rounds... it is tough with only 3 rounds but everyone runs the same 3 rounds so it really is fair....

Not sure if I'm going to make the FTR race or not but I'm still trying to decide if I can make it... either way I am looking forward to a great season of racing!

If I could make one point to everyone (and I'm not trying to start anything here either) don't complain just go out and race! If everyone complains it makes it harder on the race officials, track owners, other racers etc and next year you just watch how much less racing there is.... put it this way... who cares about the particualrs of how the qualifying is done.. just get out and qualify!

chuck, your negativity isn't helping! if somebody is shooting to get out of the "basement" and they manage one "good run" (fewer crashes etc), what are the chances they are going to repeat that in the main? most often they will have a similar result to one of their qualifiers, if they treat every qualifier as important and put more value in driving at their "speed" by trying to limit the number of crashes/marshalls then they will improve their skill much faster and become much better racers, too many guys drive like maniacs in qualifiers, running over other guys and trying way too hard, it costs them time and they usually end up being much slower than if they drove within their abilities and tailorred their run to suit the track conditions

not only will qual points encourage everyone to make sure they are better prepared ,it will also help them learn how to race at a pace that is closer to their "real speed" to minimize crashes and maximize their results, qualifiers and mains will become a lot more fun with more close racing and racers will see what setup changes/driving changes etc do to their lap times

the skill of drivers up here has improved tremendously over the past couple of years and the racing is getting a lot cleaner as racers learn how to race cleaner

i really feel that rewarding consistency by trying qual points up here will be a positive for the series, of course in a weather shortenned event they may have to revert back to rocket rounds
