I tried it this year. Very consistant performance throughout the run. servo performance doesn't fade because the supply is regulated at 6V.

My 2000mah pack is lasting me for 2 hrs of my bashing

im running a JR DSM 4000mAh lipo and dimension engineering voltage regulator. I cant honestly say how long i get from a charge but id guess about 5 hours or so. I just hook a voltage monitor up to it between runs to ensure its not going below the minimum voltage since i don't have a cutoff device. It does give the servos more consistency, as well, since the voltage is regulated from 7.4v to 6v i don't see the power drop under stress from the servos it stays consistent.

Unless you already have a Lipo set up (batteries/charger and regulator) I think it's not needed. You can easily get 10-15 good sub c cells from ebay and make a few of your own packs.

For the larger servos you should have 6V plugged directly to them. Some 1/4 servos even come with the y adapters to do this. (Hitech 805 for example)
