Go for a 1/8 converted electric buggy. I too have been away from this hobby for quite sometime and I'm just starting to get back into it. I'm just waiting for some rules and guide lines to be set in this class before I make the investment. Nitro buggies are cool but are to high maintenance especially for off road. I/5 scale are awkward to drive and 1/10 scale are great indoors however 1/8 electric is where it will be at in a year or so.

I'd get back in by tuning up the Revo......Get some new wheels.......FOC tranny........Single steering kit......maybe even a new power plant.....
The Revo is a great platform that is very versatile.......enjoy it.
