Happy New Year everyone. The first race of the new year was a good one and also marked the start of the 2009 Indoor Points series. There was a great turnout and close racing in all of the classes.

2WD Buggy
The guys from PA dominated qualifying again with Mike Barrett taking TQ and Paul Nam the 2nd position. Dan Black was able to qualify in the 3rd spot. The race ended close to how it started but there was a lot of excitement in between. Half way into the race Dan was able to work his way to the lead position. Mike was able to take back the #1 spot a few laps later and stayed there to win the race. Paul was working his way back up from 3rd and kept applying the pressure to Dan. Paul was able to get by Dan in the final lap to take 2nd with Dan 0.4 sec. behind in 3rd.

4WD Open
4WD qualifying was exciting as usual but Dennis Himes and Justin Williams really laid it down by getting 21 laps. They both averaged under 14.8 sec. for all 21 laps with Justin taking TQ and Dennis just 1 sec. behind. Kevin McNerny was happy to be back to a B44 and qualified 3rd just missing 21 laps by 0.2 sec. Kevin Peterson got his ZX5 dialed and was able to win the D main in front of Chicken. Kevin Siller and Anthony Muscato had a great back-and-forth battle for the C Main. Anthony passed Kevin in the last lap but a final corner bobble allowed Kevin to take the win by 2 sec. Dan Black had a bad start in the B main and fell from 1st to almost last. Doctor Drew was able to take the lead but fell back at the end of the race. Dan Bach was able to take the lead at the mid-point and maintained it for the win. Dan Black was able to work his way back thru the field for 2nd. The A Main saw Dennis Himes get by Justin Williams on lap 3 and maintain his lead on Justin the rest of the race for the win with Justin taking 2nd. The rest of the field was a see-saw battle with Brian Bellinger able to take the #3 spot at the end.

Stadium Truck
Stadium truck is getting as close as 4WD with the top 5 drivers qualifying with 19 laps. Cory Pulliam was able to claim the #1 spot with Paul Nam and Tom Himes 2 and 3. Brandon Oddo was able to win the C main over Kevin McNerny. Rick Redmin and Ryan Bossert started and finished the B main in the 1st and 2nd spots. Rick Siller dusted off the T4 and was able to finish 3rd on the same lap. The A main was a close battle between the top 3. Tom Himes was able to get in the lead spot early and maintain it for the win. Paul Nam and Cory Pulliam had a tight battle for the #2 spot with Paul getting by Cory with a few laps to go to finish 2nd.

There was another great turnout for Slash. Tom Himes was the only one to get 18 laps to take TQ. Allan Tanski had a great qualifier to place 2nd and Kyra/Dan Bach qualifying 3rd. The Kevins, Peterson and Siller, were able to finish 1-2 in the B main and bump up to the A. The A main was a good battle with Tom Himes backing up his TQ to take the win. Kyra/Dan Bach were able to hold onto 2nd and Allan Tanski had a solid race to take 3rd.

Notes from the day
it was great to see Mitch Harmer out with his new 4WD. He will be in the heat of the battle in a few weeks. The SPC Batteries team of Tom and Dennis Himes were dominant this week winning 3 of the 4 classes. Allan Tanksi and Kevin Peterson are really getting their Slashes dialed in and the results show it. Itís always a good time when Paul Nam and Mike Barrett drop in to race. This seasonís points battle should be a good one with all of the classes so competitive.

Thanks again to everyone who came out and we hope to see you all next week.
