who is racing hpi baja s ???? that is a basher at best .

mine was very bad and if I would of spend 5 grand to upgrade every part on it but kept the hpi stickers maybe it would be good too.

You really get what you pay for .

Mcd is wicket and its good for all seasons .

true most guys dont want to spend the $$ for a good buggy as it is expensive so hpi is the reason it is so popular they make them like timbits in china for sure.

I heard it costs them around 130 bucks to make the whole car .

better wait and get the real thing . ]

You pay now or later that is the difference.

You get a baja and pay more in the long run , get a cleon or an FG and you are done .

baja is great for jumps and tricks but not racing unless you spend Alot of $$ .

A good leoppard would spank a baja all day long but its more $$ to buy.

I don't care what this guy chooses to buy. He asked for an opinion on a starter rtr, so I gave one. He can do as he pleases and it doesn't have to be from me. I sell HPI, FG and Redcat. I've seen a few of each and the only reason I suggested the HPI is because as a beginner, parts availability is a big deal. How many local shops do you know of that sell Redcat parts?? Stock parts for ANY brand will be cheap so that doesn't really seem like a valid argument to me anyhow... This guy isn't looking for a racer chassis from what we've been told so a Cleon is out of the question... Besides there are only two of those in North America right now because you have to be banking huge coin to afford one. Over 3k! He asked for an opinion on a beginner RTR chassis for bashing, not racing and the Baja is a great basher chassis.

Ok here's my take. I've owned several different ones and have been happy with all. To start out I agree with Brad, a HPI Baja 5B or SS. They are priced well and tons of aftermarket parts as well as stock parts are found.

To address this further we need to know if you want 2WD or 4WD and what your budget is.
