It was good to see a bunch of the guys back after their adventures at the Mid-West Electric Champs. It was a good day of racing.
Justin Williams was dominant again in qualifying with 20 laps, better than a number of 4WD efforts. Justin also won the A main 2 laps in front of Doctor Drew. Mike Carey and Scott Cimato had a good back and forth battle for 3rd with Mike ending up ahead at the end of the race.
Dennis Himes had another great qualifier as the only one with 21 laps to take TQ. Kevin McNerny and Justin Williams were right behind in the 2 and 3 spots. The C main saw Kevin Peterson applying the pressure to Rick Siller for the lead but Rick was able to stay in front for the win. Rick Redmin led most of the B main to take the win but the battle of the race was for 2nd with Keith Billanti, Rick Siller and Doctor Drew. Keith prevailed to take 2nd by a close margin and Rick took 3rd. The A main was a 3-way battle between Dennis Himes, Kevin McNerny and Dan Bach. The lead switched a few times with Dennis taking the #1 spot with a few laps to go and holding on for the win. Kevin finished less than a sec. in front of Dan for 2nd.
Qualifying in Truck was close with the top 5 drivers getting 19 laps. Rick Redmin was able to take TQ with Cory Pulliam qualifying 2nd and Dennis Himes getting his own truck dialed in for 3rd spot. The C main was a close race with the top 4 drivers finishing on the same lap. Brandon Oddo and Nick Reger kept the race close but Brandon was able to pass Nick with 3 laps to do and finish out front for the win. Ryan Bossert was able to jump from the #4 spot to the #1 spot in the first lap of the B Main race and he didnít look back. Kyle Inman kept applying the pressure but Ryan stayed cool for the win with Kyle right behind to take 2nd. 4 out of the 6 drivers had the lead at one point during the A main so there was a lot of back-and-forth action. Dan Bach, Tom Himes and Rick Redmin kept the lead pack tight with Dan taking the win by only 0.2 sec. over Tom. Rick was right there only 2 sec. behind for 3rd.
Tom Himes, Alan Tanski and Brandon Oddo took the top 3 qualifying spot is Slash. Dana Speta stepped it up to take the B main win in a close battle with Steve Kenworthy and Fred Johnson. Tom Himes maintained his #1 spot the whole race to win the A main. Jim Masurek kept it clean and smooth to stay out in front of Kevin Peterson to take 2nd with Kevin ending up 3rd.
Notes from the day
Another great day of racing with friends. It was good to hear the stories from Columbus (some Iím sworn not to repeat) and great to hear how well the local guys did. I was really impressed this week with the continued improvement of the drivers in the lower mains. Guys like Dana Speta, Brandon Oddo, Jim Masurek and Mike Carey have really started to lay down the laps and keep improving each week. You can always expect close racing in all of the mains and no one can take for granted where theyíll qualify. 4 yr. old Kyra Bach is driving his own car so we are seeing the future of racing.
Thanks again to everyone who came out. This coming weekend is the last club race before the 3rd Annual Pro Factory Trophy Race so come on down and join us.
