Hey guys just last minute decided to go back to nitro so I bought the 8ight 2.0 RTR and was gonna break it in today but I was having the problem of when I tried to start it the flywheel would just lock up and id have to turn it over with a flat head screw driver and when it did start the 1 time it stalled right after =( any suggestions on how to get rid of the "Vapor lock" if thats the case ???

blow

A Blow dryer will work not as well as a heat gun, but basically keep the blow dryer on the engne till it gets close to operating temp, i don't know if your blow dryer will get that hot but any heat is better then no heat

A blow dryer will help, heat gun is better. Get the temp up to 120 - 140 for easier starting.

What you are experiencing is a nice tight new motor. Very common. The heat will help and make sure your bump box is fully charged, and lined up perfectly. Press down in short quick bursts, don't hold down for too long.

If you are still experiencing problems, it may be flooded and locked up with fuel. If you think this is the case you can remove the glow plug turn over a few times on the bump box to clear it out. Then replace the plug and try again.

You can also loosen the glow plug slightly to reduce the compression in the motor. Once fired, tighten plug back up. Hope this helps.

I've got just over a gallon through my 8t 2.0 and it starts like a charm now. So i'm sure once your break in period is over the motor will cooperate for you as well.

everybodies advice is correct, but you will find it easier to start if you preheat it to at least 170 degrees f, that will mean that the cyl head is very hot to the touch, normal operating temps for nitro engines range from 170ish to 250ish so it is normal for it to be too hot to leave your fingers on it

you mentioned you bought the 8 2.0 rtr, that comes with a dx3s radio with telemetry, simply turn it on and then preheat the engine till you radio reads 170 deg f, try starting the engine, if you don't get it started within a couple of minutes it will have cooled below 150, reheat it again, you can heat it up to 200 without any worries at all

hope this helps

Thanks Dave but actually i ripped out all the spektrum telementry the minute i bought it and sold it within 5 minutes. I already have a dx3r and everyone i know who has the tele says it broke quick.

I have a temp gun tho, also the engine is starting to lock up less and less i used the stephen bess method
