Just for comparison purposes this is how JBRL does their points structure. Their series is based on 5 out of 8 races.

The JBRL awards you points for how well you finish in each race. Points are awarded as follows:
1 st place = 100 points
2 nd place = 99 points
3 rd place = 98 points etc.
1 bonus point for top qualifying
1 bonus point for each race attended
First tie breaker will be your first throwout
Second tie breaker will be you second throwout
Third tie breaker will be your third throwout.
Fourth tie breaker will be who won the most in "A" main victories

In my opinion the old points structure was easier to work with in the form of tie breakers. I feel that moving to a new structure that puts less weight on finishing higher will not result in the true fastest racer winning in some cases. Weather the final is mandatory or not in regards to points will also heavily affect the new structure.

So my question is how many races is the glorcs series out of next year? And is the final not mandatory in terms of points as discussed in the meeting?

I personally like the Finals idea, there should be something like bonus points or some incentive for attending 4 races plus a final. The Final should really mean something more then just another race.

weighted final is not fair, being a family guy there are reasons that would make it not possible for some people not being able to make it. So I should come to 6 races and not be able to make the 7th, I just waisted my summer.
A weighted final is for single guys with no comitments.

I agree with steve ( omg did I just post that!?). I had the luck to be leading the points (or very close) in both classes in '08 & '09 but had other races I needed to attend on the same date as the finals (worlds and horizon race) and while I knew that going into the season it still sucks to works all year towards a championship and not be able to make the last race. Most racing series be thy model or full size do not have a mandatory final. It works either way it's just my spin on things.
