Martin winning the Bandman Cup in 1991

I think this is from '92? That's Derek across from Martin

I remember the GLORCS final from Kingsville a few years back. It was that track with the crossover and that crazy rumble strip down in ther 2nd lane from the front.
Anyways, after the quals, my tires were shredded - literally falling off the rims in spots. I recall being in the pits shooing the * with jordan and martin, talking about progress and lap times and complaining that I often have to run on tires that they would throw in the garbage. Martin reached into a bag and handed me a brand new set of crimefighter pre-mounts. Just like that. Its something that I won't soon forget. I ended up batteling Derek for position for most of the A, able to at least hold some kind of edge because of the new tires.
Thanks again, Martin!

Well I can't say that I really new Martin on a personal level. But at the track, when I first started racing offroad, way back in 2008 ... lol, in my mind he was one of the guys to beat. I'm sure at one point or another everyone has benchmarked themselves against a better racer. For me, racing Monster Truck, Martin was the guy to beat ... or at the very least try to come close !

I can remember seeing him at all the races that I attended. Hardcore, Sprucewood Invitational, and the GLORCS races. I thought to myself, wow, this guy in a true enthusiast, and he can drive ! He always had a kind word and a tip for me. And as a year or so passed and I got a little faster, after a race at the 5 Raceway, Martin looked over at the end of the race, gave me a nod and simply said "Nice race". Now I can't recall how I did or placed, but I can remember being very close and challenging him. That simple statement to me was like a big pat on the back. Had I arrived ? Was I getting better ? Martin is taking notice ! Thanks for all the challenges and kind words Martin, you are truely missed.

The one big thing that stands out in my mind about Martin was his dedication to the Hobby. If there was a race going on you can rest assured you would see Martin there. He was a true ambassador to the Hobby. The first race we had here after he passed Mollie said to me. It feels different here without Martin. I am sure it feels different everywhere to.
