Please read in full. There is a lot of important information here.
I have been getting a lot of questions about the event, but I have been very guarded about what info I can give out until things are a little more set in stone. There have been A LOT of moving parts with this years event, and I wanted to make sure I give you the best event possible while setting the right expectations.
First, Thank You to everyone that has pre-registered and pre-paid. This is making it a lot easier to get an idea of who is coming and to pay for things. As you can imagine, an undertaking like this has a lot of things that need to be paid for before the event even happens.
Now, here is a little more of the details that you are looking for.
Wednesday - The track crew will show up to start the build. ONLY the track crew is allowed on the premise. No one that is on the track crew will be permitted to show up early to camp, set up, or volunteer. The track crew has been prearranged through Eat Dirt Inc. So they know who they are.
Thursday - Again, only track and event crew is permitted. No early arrivals for camping or set up. The venue is a business, and will be in full swing. We only have the space for event purposes for Friday to Sunday. Please don't make me turn you away. I will feel bad for a couple minutes, but then I will have to get back to work.
Friday - This is when it all kicks off. 8am, you can start showing up. The building will not be open until 9am to start practice an set up your pits. No early entry to set up pits and stand around.
Practice will start at 9AM for PRE-PAID racers only. Anyone who did not pre-pay will not be permitted into the building or the pits until 4pm. That means that 9am-4pm is Pre-paid only.
During the day, Non-Prepaid racers are able to register, pay, and set up their pits if they are outside, but will not be permitted into the building until 4pm. Not even to look around or visit the shop. After 4pm, practice is for everyone.
Practice is scheduled to end around 11pm. At that time, the gates to the facility will be closed. No in or out with vehicles after that time.
If you feel you are going to have to leave late at night for any reason, please leave your vehicle on the street so you do not get closed in. Once closed, that’s it until we open again in the morning. Gate will be open again at 6:30am
Saturday – We will open the building at 7am for a short practice. I ask that if you do not NEED the extra practice, allow someone else that does to get the time in. Anyone going on the stand will only be given the one tank of fuel, and then they have to leave and let the next person on.
We will set up a drivers meeting for 8:30am, and start our first round of qualifying immediately after.
As a reminder, we are doing ALL qualifying on Saturday. The day will go until the day is done. Even if we are at it until the wee hours of the morning. We have brought in the right crew and taken the required precautions to make sure things run smoothly, but in case of incident, be aware.
Sunday – There will not be practice on Sunday. We will have a drivers meeting for 8am and start racing by 8:30am. The goal is to get all of the racing, and then trophies completed in a reasonable time frame so that people can start the long travel home.
A few things to remember:
-Lipo bags are required for all lipo charging inside the building. This means ALL Lipo. Have Saddle packs in your Durango DESC410r? They have to come out an go in a bag. Lipo battery in your radio? It has to come out and go in the bag. Lipo receiver pack in your nitro kit? It has to come out and go in a bag. Your convenience is not worth the health and safety of everyone around you, or the building we are racing in. If you are caught charging a Lipo in the building and you are not using a bag, you will be disqualified. It’s hash, but., safely first.
-There can only be 12 people on the drivers stand at one time. This also means only 12 cars on the track at a time. There will be 12 markers to put on your radio in order to be on the stand. When you come off the stand, you hand it to someone in order for them to walk on to the stand. Anyone with a kit on the track without a marker on their radio loses a practice round.
-Marshalling after your practice, qualifying round, and main is required. There will be a table set up beside the drivers stand for you to set down your radio and kit. When you leave the stand, immediately put your kit on the table and marshal for the next group. You have to stay on the track for the entirety of the next practice session, qualifying run, or race. Failure to marshal on time will result in the lose of your best qualifying time. Once into the qualifying rounds and mains, you have to marshal the heat after your scheduled heat, even if you do not run. If you are unable to marshal, it is your responsibility to find a replacement, and your responsibility to ensure they are marshalling for you.
-Your health, safety, and conduct is your responsibility. The event promoters, race director, track crew, sponsors, and property owners are not responsible for you. All steps will be taken to keep the event safe, but due to the nature of the hobby, not everything can be controlled. We are racing little toys cars at amazing speeds around a dirt track with constantly changing track conductions. Keep your head up, and your wits about you. These machines have no remorse.
-At this moment, pit space is still restricted. There have been many people that said they are going to pit outside, but until we know 100% what the weather is going to be like, we have to hold to the original plan of keeping every person restricted to a 3’ x 2.5’ pit space. You are limited to how far you can build out, but you are able to build up. The track crew will be screwing a few 2’x4’s into the walls to allow you to bring hooks to hang extra kits and gear. Note: Only the track crew are permitted to make alterations to the building. You may utilize any additions they make with your own hooks, but you are not permitted to make any direct changes to the facility. Once everyone is registered, any available indoor pit space may be used. Stretch your legs and get comfortable.
-Common sense is authorized at this event. Please use it at every possible opportunity.
