Also the safe cutoff features on the phones are very stringent.
And, as mentioned, they are also sometimes susceptible.
I have to cringe when I see the batts charged while still mounted to the buggys, or in the starter boxes. I always remove them , but I have been very guilty of not putting them into the lipo sacks myself... that is until I took the time to make nice long charge and balance leads that allow me to plug in the batts and the balancers with lots of room to spare.
For my lipo powered starter box, I actually mounted an illuminated voltage indicator and a lipo low voltage alarm. Dipping too low past the low voltage threshold (especially too often) can sometimes lead to the fires when charging. I think too many people take this risk when using lipos in their starter boxes.
Be careful with your lipos!
