Have a question you may have heard before but I can' find the answer. I have a Spitfire Mk9 with a 48 inch wingspan. That would give it about 1/10 scale to the original 40 feet 2 inch span. I have a pilot that comes with the kit but is not very good quality. It measures 2 inch wide by 2 inch tall. Great Planes says a 2 inch pilot would be 1/6 scale. The one I have almost hits the top of the canopy. To me the 1/9 scale would be the one by the scale size of the kit. What's your take one this.

Re: scale pilot

The wingspan of most Spitfires is 36 feet 10 inches, that would make it 442 inches. You plane has a span of 48" making it a scale of 1:9.2 (448 / 4. A 6 foot pilot would have a height of 7 7/8 inches at this scale. If your pilot is cut off at about chest level the bust should have a height of about 1/3 of this or, about 2.6 inches.
