ECX Ruckus... got one?

As i've indicated in a previous post under "offroad" I'm new here.

I have done some searching on this forum but there is little to no info on the ECX Ruckus. Now I do understand that this truck is a bit... low grade for most of you pros but I expected to see a bit more info on it. Does anyone have one who would like to share some info? Also I'd like to know about some upgrades I should look at doing in the near future.

I just bought two of the water proof models from my local hobby store for my son and I to open up on Christmas day. So no I havn't gotten to try it out yet
My hobby store carries all the parts so thats a plus.

Re: ECX Ruckus... got one?

I'm of the opinion, unless you are racing, to just replace as things break. Keeping a spare spur gear or two on hand is well worth the $3 investment and get some extra body clips as they always get lost. As you figure out what breaks with the way you drive, then you can stock up.

Recommendation #1: Get an extra NiMH truck battery or two each. The included charger is a 2amp which will charge the included battery in about an hour. Run time, in perfect conditions is probably in the 15-25 minutes range. Cold weather and how you drive the truck will shorten that. I find the Onyx brand to be pretty good value for the price.

Recommendation #2: A must a day or two before Christmas: Open the truck, undo the zip ties, and CHARGE the batteries. (If you get extra batteries, charge them too). There's nothing worse than opening a present and having to wait an hour or more to use it while waiting to unbox and then charge batteries. I'd also recommend trying the trucks inside now just to ensure it's going to work Christmas morning. You don't need to take them outside but at least ensure they go forward/reverse/steer as Christmas Day's a LONG day if a toy needs to be returned.

Recommendation #3: You can NEVER have enough AA batteries. The included ones will get you through the first few runs but always have a couple handy .

Less critical: You can look into a better charger down the road. The new 2amp charger ECX has included is adequate for the time being, especially since you'll have two. Later on, you might want to look into a dual port charger like the Onyx 240 or a LiPo-capable charger.
Current models: Hobbico Nexstar Electric, Parkzone Spitfire Mk IX , several micros/small helis. Nothing nitro/gas.

Re: ECX Ruckus... got one?

Thank you very much for the good advice.
I did think ahead and already got two 3300 mah battery packs.
Apparently this truck is supposed to go a bit faster than the first one since it has a 15T instead of a 20T. Looking forward to it.
