Hi All,

I have recently broke the pull start of my savage, so i have decided to replace a new one.

after a new one is installed, the pull will not retract back. but when i loosen up the 4 little screws that holds the pull start, it retract.

I also notice there is alot oil on the little shaft that connects to the pull start.

any clue?

Re: savage xss pull start replacment.

You may have over-tightened the pull start although I have done this before it still retracted...

If you are not comfortable leaving it loose, but not too loose, you could always try rebuilding the pull-start.

check the pull cord inside of the new pull start , if the string 's end is a little long it will snag inside and release when bolts are loosened.

Re: savage xss pull start replacment.

I had this same problem with one of my nitro trucks and I tried everything with no luck, what I ended up doing was adding washer that way you can still tighten up the screws. worked great.
