Anyone run a four blade head without an FBL unit

That's what I'm thinking of doing. I've tried three different FBL systems and the only one I could get working halfa$$ed was an XYZ FBL system. Now I'm sure someone will say how wonderful they are but that is not my experience with them and someone else will say get this system or that system is on sale for $400 but you have to buy extra stuff to make it work. My Eurocopter post tells of my 3G experience today and if no one has any answers then I'm selling it for a lot less than I paid cuz I figure I likely got screwed and if I didn't then I'm too dense to train for new skills. Now if they come up with a FBL system that works as simple as a Futaba 240 gyro then I might consider it. To me FBL systems have only 3D guys in mind and scale is a secondary thing if even taken into consideration at all. So back to my original question, has anyone had any luck flying a four blade 450 size heli WITHOUT and FBL. Sorry about the rant I just had to get it out.
